- Full-time on-campus students have vacation of up to 15 weeks annually depending on commencement date. This includes mid-term and between breaks, and the optional 10-week Summer School.

The Certificate III in Hairdressing course will give you exciting options on graduation including working as a qualified hairdresser in a salon or home-based business. Graduates can go on to work as a hairdressing stylist freelancer in industries such as TV, film and theatre.

You'll gain a professional level of understanding, which will allow you to confidently seek employment, but these studies will also lay the foundations for further study down the line.

Certificate III in Hairdressing

The Certificate III in Hairdressing course is geared towards preparing students for the working world. As part of your qualification you will spend time within the AIAS Hair Salon which operates to the public, giving you experience with real clients in a real work environment. It's an ideal balance of practice and theory, where you’ll complete practical demonstrations alongside written exams and assignments.

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge to:

  • work as part of a team in a hairdressing environment;
  • effectively communicate with customers and other staff in the workplace;
  • consult with clients;
  • apply safe hairdressing working practices according to salon procedures;
  • sell products and services; and
  • design and apply a broad range of technical hairdressing services on clients.

Certificate III in Hairdressing

Employment

The Certificate III in Hairdressing will provide you with the necessary education to become a competent hairdresser. Graduates commonly gain employment as a qualified hairdresser working as part of a team in a salon or operating a home salon.

Those who achieve this qualification will be able to perform an extensive range of skills and advise clients competently in a variety of circumstances. You will be able to apply the skills you have learned independently and with professionalism.

At course completion you will be competent in communicating in the workplace, consulting with clients, selling products and services, and designing and applying a broad range of technical hairdressing services on clients.
