- Full-time on-campus students have vacation of up to 15 weeks annually depending on commencement date. This includes mid-term and between breaks, and the optional 10-week Summer School.

Nationally Recognised TrainingRemedial Massage is the manipulation of muscle and connective tissue to promote relaxation and wellbeing, relieve pain, treat injury and increase circulation. The Diploma of Remedial Massage at AIAS will give you the education and training needed to launch your career as a Remedial Massage Therapist.

This course is suited to a range of people including recent school leavers, those wishing to change career or add remedial massage to their existing skill set. If you are an overseas trained Remedial Massage Therapist and need to ensure your training is comparable to Australian requirements, this remedial massage course is also for you.

This is an advance level course, and applicants will need to have successfully completed the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy or an equivalent qualification.

The course is available on-campus and online.


MAA Membership

Graduates can apply for MAA Membership at an Accredited Remedial level. Only once they have this will they be eligible to apply for Health Service Provider Status. This essentially means that your clients can claim private health rebates (except Medibank Private).

Eligible graduates must:

  1. Complete all clinics on-campus
  2. Complete at least 50% of the remaining study on-campus

Online students can still apply for registration with the MAA but won’t be eligible for the Health Service Provider status.

Hot stones on back - Diploma of Remedial MassageThe Diploma of Remedial Massage at AIAS is designed to give you a deeper understanding of all areas relating to Remedial Massage. This course is taught by experienced, qualified industry professionals, and it includes clinic-based learning with supervised hands-on practice with real clients.

Students of the Diploma of Remedial Massage will receive training in all aspects of remedial massage including massage therapy, lymphatic drainage, deep tissue massage, and treatment for athletes and patients with chronic diseases.

You will also gain important training in professional practice, legal and ethical requirements, anatomy and physiology, and clinic management.

Career Pathways

Employment

Hot stones on back - Diploma of Remedial MassageGraduates of the Diploma of Remedial Massage will have all the skills required to be self-employed as independent practitioners or to work within a larger health service.

The course covers the provision of remedial massage treatment to clients with specific needs such as injury management, rehabilitation, palliative care, aged care, women and children. Practitioners at this level may supervise other massage therapists.

Graduates of the Diploma of Remedial Massage generally gain employment as Remedial Therapists, Remedial Massage Therapists, or Remedial Massage Practitioners.

Further Study

The Diploma of Remedial Massage can also be used as a stepping stone to further study in additional massage practices at Diploma level or in Natural Medicine faculties at Advanced Diploma level, or even as a pathway to higher education.
