To be eligible for VET FEE-HELP, you must:
Language, Literacy and Numeracy
In addition to this students MUST have completed a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education OR they must complete the Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) testing to be eligible for a VET FEE-HELP loan. If the applicant cannot provide the certificate as evidence of completion of a year 12 secondary education, they must prove eligibility through the test – a letter from a secondary school delegate will not be accepted in replacement. Please refer to the Language, Literacy and Numeracy Policy – VET. The College can assist with an LLN assessment tool should the prospective student require it. Other qualifications will not be accepted to be eligible for a VET FEE-HELP loan, including:
Students under 18 years
If you are under 18 years of age you can still apply for a VET FEE-HELP loan however it is a legal requirement that your Request for a VET FEE-HELP loan form MUST also be co-signed by a parent or guardian (responsible parent). Exceptions are permitted in limited circumstances where a student under the age of 18 is receiving youth allowance (within the meaning of the Social Security Act 1991) on the basis that the person is independent (within the meaning of Part 2.11 of that Act). Students seeking this exemption will need to provide suitable evidence to the provider from Centrelink to this effect.
