About this course

It doesn't matter if you're looking to add a new skill to your resume or become a YouTube beauty expert, the skills you learn at AIAS will prepare you for success. You'll also get the opportunity to practice the latest beauty and management techniques on real-life clients, when you complete work-placement in one of our purpose built Beauty Training Salons.

This qualification reflects the role of senior managers and small business owners of personal services businesses. They are responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operation of the business and for planning, monitoring and evaluating the work of the team. Salon managers also operate with significant autonomy to make strategic business management decisions. This qualification provides a pathway to work as a salon manager in any type of personal service business including hairdressing or beauty salons, barber shops and spas.

This course is also valuable to those who have already achieved a qualification in Beauty Therapy and/or Hairdressing, and wish to expand on their skills and knowledge.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is an opportunity for you to receive recognition of your previous skills and knowledge you have acquired from work experiences, life experiences, and/or through recent formal studies. Through the RPL assessment process you may be able to gain recognition in Units of competency within this course or the entire course. For further information on RPL, click here.

Assessments

As within any study, students are required to complete a variety of assessments. In this course assessments include document creation; knowledge quizzes; case studies; workbooks; presentations; reflections; portfolios; and scenarios.

Work Placement

Mandatory Work Placement is structured place of work that helps prepare you for entry into the personal services industry workplace. Placement gives you an invaluable experience and the opportunity to put your theory into practice.

This course has 45 mandatory work placement hours.

Vocational Placement

Students studying online, mandatory work placement needs to be completed at an external salon/spa to AIAS. This is known as Vocational Placement.

Online students are expected to participate in 45 placement hours.

You are required to actively engage with employers to secure placement in the personal service sector.

You will be expected to secure your own external salon/spa for vocational placement; however AIAS can provide guidance and assistance with its Vocational Placement Officer (VPO) available. If you are currently working in a salon/spa and wish to attend placement at your current workplace AIAS will assist in implementing this.

The costs associated with vocational placement, such as travel or accommodation are not included in the Total Tuition Cost. For further information on Vocational Placement, click here.

Qualifications


Upon successful completion of this course AIAS will issue your nationally recognised qualification.
