The CHC51015 Diploma of Counselling provides students with the skills needed to work with clients on personal and psychological issues. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to use communication, micro-counselling and interviewing skills and use counselling therapies to assist clients.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is an opportunity for you to receive recognition of your previous skills and knowledge you have acquired from work experiences, life experiences, and/or through recent formal studies. Through the RPL assessment process you may be able to gain recognition in Units of Competency within this course or, the entire course. As within any study, students are required to complete a variety of assessments. In this course assessments include workbooks; case studies; practical demonstrations, short answer questions, essays, role plays and scenarios.

A simulated environment called "Community Connect" is provided to create a real - world approach to learning and assessment. It provides access to the tools, resources, and interactions typically found in a community services workplace.

Note: Employment following this course may require you to obtain both a Working with Children Check and also a National Police Check. Students are advised to obtain both in preparation for employment.
